The course will help practitioners understand how they can provide first aid to babies and children within a childcare setting. It covers not only the minor incidents but also the life saving techniques required in a potentially fatal emergency. The cover is made up of one online unit and a face to face course. Both must be completed to achieve the full qualification.
Modules
Modules 1- 8 are assessed during the face to face part of the course.

4.1 Identify when to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to an unresponsive infant and an unresponsive child who is not breathing normally

Requirements
There is no previous experience required for this course, but learners must be over the age of 14.
You must have a good understanding of basic English and basic IT skills to navigate the online module.
It is also a requirement of the course that you are able to attend a one day face to face course in order to receive your certificate. The face to face part of the course will require a certain degree of physical activity such as kneeling to perform CPR.
Assessment
The course will be assessed by a short multichoice questionnaire at the end of the online module in order to assess your knowledge and understanding. A practical assessment will take place on the day of your face to face module.
Qualifications
This online module is used to work towards a certificate in ‘Paediatric first aid’
You will receive a certificate for completing the online module that will need to be retained for attendance on the face to face part of your course.
